I was late to party on this recipe, clearly, since nearly every food blog already had creamed itself over it. But the high praises were not overstated in the least—this sauce is so stupid easy and delicious, it was born to be a legend. Crush tomatoes, add onion and butter, simmer—I mean, come on! We tried this recipe with fresh tomatoes and with canned, and both results made two grown women weep. You literally want to crawl into this sauce and let it hold you. Serve with pasta (long strands are best) and parm, if you must.
